With nothing else really happening today—and me just sitting in the Philadelphia airport with nothing better to do—this seems as good a time as any to talk some random baseball and other stuff.

Doc Adams: Baseball pioneer.
Dick Allen: Prodigious slugger.
John Donaldson: Overlooked ace.
Vic Harris: Negro leagues titan.
Tommy John: Big winner, surgery namesake.
Thurman Munson: Yankee captain and red ass.
Dave Parker: Boppin’ bat.
Luis Tiant: Whirling pitching delight.
