That is the TBS broadcast of an entire baseball game, 1994, Montreal Expos at the Atlanta Braves. It was exactly 30 years ago Monday.

Absolutely, yeah, my plans went right out the window.

So I started writing a stream-of-consciousness kind of thing, inning by inning. I didn’t expect it to be a 5,000-word wooly mammoth, but, you know, I never expect these things to mushroom, and they always do anyway. Cliff Floyd was the second batter of the game. It’s easy to forget just how massive Cliff Floyd was, both physically (6-foot-5, 220) and as a prospect. People were predicting all-time greatness for him.
