The Best Players at Every Position
I asked, you answered—here are your best players in baseball…
Let’s take a look at the players JoeBlogs readers selected as the best in baseball at each position… and how things are going.
National League
Catcher: William Contreras, Milwaukee
This was very much a split vote; Contreras didn’t even get 50% of the overall vote. But he did win comfortably over the player who has held the mantle as the NL’s best catcher for a little while now, Philadelphia’s J.T. Realmuto. Contreras got off to a crazy-hot start, and was looking like an MVP candidate in mid-May, when he was hitting .359/.434/.553. He hasn’t hit much since then—he’s slugging just .346 in his last 39 games—but his overall offensive numbers are still strong, his defense is probably around league average, and the Brewers have a reasonably comfortable lead in the National League Central.
My sleeper pick: Los Angeles’ Will Smith. I can’t help but think that Smith is underrated every year. It might be the name.
