What a Wild Sports Weekend!
A no-no, a Novak, a losing streak and the greatest race ever run.
You don’t need to know this or want to know this at all, but on Saturday, I had a case of food poisoning like nothing in memory. I can’t say for sure what caused it—though I have a pretty good idea—but I had what can only be described as a comical vomiting session that evoked “The Exorcist” plus the throw-up scene in “Stand By Me” plus the chewing tobacco scene in “The Sandlot” plus the wafer-thin mint scene in “The Meaning of Life.”
I only bring this up because this was one of the greatest sports weekends in memory, and I kind of witnessed it in a fog. I’m going to try to relive my four favorite moments now:
